Start each part with a letter or number; dots, slashes and hyphens are also accepted. A date such as 20261101 or a lot such as B7 sits before the number, followed by a hyphen.

Mod-10 appends a check digit for the padded number only, excluding the prefix and lot. Code 128 also includes its own checksum.
